Minimum Qualifications

• 2020 and 2021 batch of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English or relevant field

• Talented wordsmith with interpersonal skills

• Demonstrate good proofreading skills, research, observation and judgement

• Knowledge of current events and strong sense of newsworthiness

• Ability to comprehend and write for all beats/verticals

• Strong sense of deciphering fake news and knowledge of modern fact-checking methods

• Knowledge of online content strategy and creation with an eye for detail

• Ability to comprehend various perspectives and accommodate differently points of view and feedback

• Capable of maintaining an ethical and objective standard in writing

• Ambitious and eager to work at a larger scale without sacrificing craftsmanship

• Proactive with the ability to work autonomously, collaboratively and under pressure

• Ability to collaborate with others and deliver as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in Online Journalism

• Experience of 1-2 years as an English journalist for reputed digital news organisation

• Fair understanding of social media platforms and ability to identify trending news

• Knowledge and understanding of SEO strategies

• Ability to overlook, guide and curate content that others produce

Responsibilities

• Write, proofread and review news content following the company's News Policy, while ensuring the correct tone, voice, clarity, flow, objectivity and structure of content

• Write blurbs, ledes, headlines, and straplines

• Gather information, conduct research and focus on the hard-news format

• Stay in touch with current events to keep the platform updated with the latest events

• Overall supervision and direction of the news stories going to the platform (news aggregation)

• Lead the thought process while keeping ahead of trends and providing proactive inspiration and recommendations

• Brainstorming ideas and concepts for the visual, words and content with other team members

• Multi-task across simultaneous projects and deadlines, collaborating with appropriate team members
