Summer Internship at Social Informatics Research Group,

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta

Social Informatics Research Group at is a multi-disciplinary research group at Indian Institute of
Management Calcutta involving academicians, researchers and specialists in the domain of
Management, Social Policy, Sociology, Education, Social Work and Computer and Information
Science. The objective of Social Informatics Research Group is to develop and evaluate Internet-
enabled social media based Social Information Systems, to investigate their applications for societal
benefits and to study their possible impact on individual, groups, organizations and society at large
using a set of analytic tools.
Position: Interns in a Rural Development Project
Location: Rural West Bengal
Job Description: The interns will have to visit different rural locales of West Bengal and interact
with rural crafts community. The Interns are expected to gather field data based on prepared
questionnaires to derive deeper insights regarding the rural artisan community. They will contribute
towards creating a multi-modal digital repository of rural artisans of West Bengal. The project has a
large scope in training students with techniques of data collection and developing deeper field
insights.
Required: BSW/MSW (Bachelors/Masters In Social Work), B.A./M.A. in Sociology, Rural Studies
and Rural Management candidates.
This Internship is for 2 to 3 months. No stipend will be provided during internship period. Interested
