YOUNG INDIA FELLOWSHIP

 YIF Critical Writing Workshop

The Young India Fellowship (YIF) grooms socially conscious leaders and change-makers for the 21st century. It is offered as Ashoka University’s flagship residential year-long postgraduate diploma in liberal studies comprising elements such as academic learning, live-action projects, mentorship and critical writing. Ever since its inception a decade ago, the YIF has helped young individuals switch career paths meaningfully, explore diverse areas of study and practice, discover their passion, grow further as working professionals, start organizations and create sustainable impact while solving problems at the core of our society, all while belonging to a global community of Fellows

About the session:
This workshop will give you an introduction to "Philosophy, History, and Anthropology of Science” , a course taught by Harshvardhan, YIF Critical writing Faculty. How is it that we humans who have evolved just like other animals with our limited eyesight, hearing, sense of taste, touch and smell can have an understanding of a Universe far beyond our horizon? How can we know for instance that electrons exist - particles so tiny that they can't even interact with light, making them literally invisible? How did we end up knowing about things like the Big Bang and the origins of our Universe - events that took place long before we ever existed?

Learning Outcome:
1)How does history and philosophy help us to understand science better?
2)How do scientific questions arise/ where do scientific questions come from?
3)How has cosmology i.e. our understanding of our place in the Universe, changed over the last 2000+ years?

Who should attend?
Final year students, recent graduates, entrepreneurs or working professionals, below the age of 28
